The Problem-Solving Mayor Cape Coral Needs Now!

Tom On Location: Council needs to congratulate each other less and focus on working for the people.

I attended council meetings this week and I was taken aback during the first hour by city leaders thanking each other for the work they accomplished during the first three weeks after the storm. Yes, it was a record setting and extraordinary storm and there were many people that did heroic work. But an hour of appreciation for themselves in public was somewhat premature and unnecessary. The hard work is just starting.

There are still many people displaced and have no answers about getting their lives back in order. I have heard from many people that are very upset about the lack of communication from the city and the delays in getting power and internet restored. Who knows how much farther we would be behind in Governor DeSantis did not step in and get things moving.

Unfortunately, I can already see our leaders getting back to their old ways of excuses and not getting things done, just as they did with the pandemic. How long will they use the storm as an excuse for spending more and taking forever to get things done. As I have said since the start of my campaign, it is time for action, and we need to get things done and have a sense of urgency. This is more important now than ever before.

Please vote for Tom Shadrach for Mayor. Thank you and God Bless.
